Lake Cahuilla Fishing Derby

RULES
Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park Fishing Derby is a skills
event that will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, and is
open to the general public and anglers of all ages.
All tackle boxes, bait and associated fishing items that can
carry quagga mussel larvae will be inspected.
Please have all fishing equipment dry and clean. All unsealed
fishing bait canisters will not be allowed into the park per CVWD
quagga mussel regulations.
• Gates open at 2:00 p.m. Registration from 2:00 p.m – 7:00 p.m.
Derby hours: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Awards Ceremony 8:30 p.m. Recreation fishing available until 9:00
p.m.
• Fishing & Event Entry Fee ‐ Free
• State and County Fishing Regulations apply.
• State Fishing License Required (16 years and older). Fishing
License must be in your possession at all
times.
• A wristband must be worn at all times by anglers participatng
in the derby.
• Shoreline fishing only.
• Anglers must fish with only ONE rod and rod must be closely
attended.
• Catch and release not allowed with the exception of grass carp.
Snagging of fish is prohibited and will
not qualify for prizes.
• Fish must be brought to the Award Ceremony area for official
weigh in by 8:10 p.m. In order to be in
contention for any derby prize, all fish must be freshly caught,
fresh in appearance, not stiff or frozen.
• Derby prizes will be awarded for the heaviest catfish (total
weight) caught during the derby hours on
the day of the derby. Derby hours: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Prize
awards start at 8:30 p.m. Winners need
not be present.
• Anglers and/or persons shall not violate any fishing derby
rules, local, state, or federal laws.
• Derby will be held rain or shine.
