Thermal Community Park
Thermal Community Park is a 10-acre site designed by local residents with the assistance of Desert Recreation District, Kounkuey Design Initiative (KDI) and Hermann Design Group. It will be the first community park in Thermal and is centrally located so outdoor recreation and programming is easily accessible to all residents.

It was a perfect day for our Groundbreaking event for Thermal Community Park! We are excited to begin building this park, which will be the first park in Thermal!
We thank all who attended, especially the community members of Thermal. We appreciate the support of Supervisor V. Manuel Perez who spoke about the importance of parks at the event.
Construction of Thermal Community Park
Status of Construction
Construction drawings are currently in plan check and we anticipate bidding the project by Summer 2024, with construction beginning after the bidding process is complete and the project is awarded to the winning bidder.

Thermal Community Park – 2023 Public Design Meetings
Desert Recreation District and Hermann Design Group welcomed members of the community to provide their input in the design of the new community park in Thermal
Five meetings where held in Thermal to discuss the amenities residents would like to see in the park as we move forward in the design and on to the construction phase. There was one meeting per month in January, February, March, April and May 2023 and we appreciate everyone who came out and shared their ideas.
Thermal Community Park – update December 2022
At this time, we have engaged Hermann Design Group to design the park following input from community members during the outreach phase conducted by KDI.
The input provided earlier in the year lead to preliminary design concepts to establish amenities and features residents would like to see in the new park, and now the Hermann Design Group will produce the final design.
